Wells Gray Hike

Enjoy a 5 or 7-day holiday discovering the wilderness of the interior of British Columbia. Based out of a hut system in the alpine of Wells Gray Park, these chalets allow ecologically sound access to the sensitive high country. Accommodations are in comfortable wilderness chalets. These trips are sure to remain among the best backcountry experiences you will ever have!

Day 1 Clearwater - Trophy Mountain Chalet
You will be picked-up in Clearwater and travel approximately one hour to the trailhead. The trail goes up through mature forest and into lush meadows of alpine flowers. It is pure alpine from here to the Trophy Mountain Chalet. The view from the Chalet is superb, and the area has great hiking with small peaks, lakes and flower meadows everywhere. The hike to the chalet is about 2 ½ hrs over 4 km with a gain of 1700 ft. The afternoon is spent exploring the area.

Day 2 Trophy Mountain Chalet
On this day you will do a long hike in the surrounding Trophy Mountains, climb two or three peaks in the range and swim in the numerous lakes. Six hours of hiking in the alpine.

Day 3 Trophy Mountain Chalet - Discovery Cabin
Today enjoy a hike north to Discovery Cabin. The route is through total wilderness and a guide with a map, compass, and good knowledge of the area is needed. After a couple of hours in the alpine, you will drop down into the mature forest until the Valley of the Lakes. Lunch here and then continue into alpine meadows until Eagle Pass. From the top of the pass, travel to the Discovery Cabin.

Day 4 Discovery Cabin
Today enjoy a great day hike into remote lakes and along mountain ridges. This is a wild and remote valley. Enjoy 6 hours of hiking.

Day 5 Discovery Cabin - Clearwater (5 day trip)
Discovery Cabin - Fight Meadow Chalet (7 day trip)

Continue northward up and over Table Mountain. Today a good trail takes you through some of the finest flower meadows in the world. The trail leads us up the ridge of Table Mountain, and then descends into the forest to the Philip Lakes.

The hiking for the seven-day trip ends here. There is a three-hour downhill hike back to the trailhead. Overnight in Clearwater. Go to Day 9.

If continuing, you will go on a gently uphill grade through forest and then into the vast meadow system of Cariboo and Fight Meadows the to Fight Meadows Chalet. Today's hike is 7-8 hours of easy walking.

Day 6 Fight Meadow Chalet (7-day trip)
Today, tackle Battle Mountain. From the chalet, hike across 52 ridge and drop down in to Bull Valley. From the valley, hike up Battle Mountain. On top one can see into the far north of the park. The Monashees, the Cariboos, the Premieres, and the Rockies are also visible from this incredible vantage point. Return to Fight Meadow Chalet via a different route. The return trip is six hours.

Day 7 Fight Meadow Chalet - Clearwater
Hike out via Battle Creek, off the high plateau and down into the Clearwater River Valley. After four hours of hiking, we arrive at the vehicle. Return trip to Clearwater.
