This 4 or 7 day package bring you from the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver to the truly wilderness area of the Chilcotin. With packhorses in tow to transport gear, guests travel for 4 or 7 days through the mountains in nomadic style, following game trails, crossing glaciers, and enjoying open-air lunches with the world's best views.
Day 1 Vancouver - Chilcotin (4 ½ hrs escorted)
The Chilcotin Express, a maxi-van, will pick you up at your Vancouver hotel. Enjoy the views while you travel over the Hurley Pass to the beautiful Chilcotin. See any number of wildlife along the mountain pass. Arrive at the ranch in time to enjoy lunch. Spend the afternoon preparing for your alpine trek.
Days 2 - 3 or 6 Chilcotin
Travel through the truly vast wilderness setting. The chilcotin is known for its sunny skies and dry climate and abundance of wildflowers. Enjoy the panorama of snow-covered peaks and forested terrain. California bighorn sheep, moose, mule deer, mountain goat, grizzly black bear and wolf are plentiful and frequently sighted. Accommodations are in heated tent cabins at Spruce Lake Camp. You may also enjoy hiking to 50 million year old fossil beds or canoeing on the clear blue water of Spruce Lake. Seasoned hikers can also hike between a series of alpine camps.
Day 4 or 7 Chilcotin - Vancouver (4 ½ hrs escorted)
After your morning hike back to the lodge, you will have a hearty lunch. Then board the Chilcotin Express that will take you back over the scenic Hurley Pass out of the wilderness back into city life.Included:
